Chapter 2. GRIEF AND LOSS

Shortly after I started this blog, my husband started relying on me more.  His physical health started declining.  I became his caregiver.  I took on this job with open arms.  My husband had taken care of me during my cancer treatments so it was my turn as his wife.

Two days after Christmas of 2025, he entered hospice.  He was at home until March 4th 2026,  He passed four days later on March 8th.  I didn't realize now that I had so many more emotions that I had to deal with.

I went from wanting to take my life to fighting for my life.  I am now dealing with the trauma of seeing someone dear to me losing their life and dying. I'm learning that trauma comes in many forms, and I am still in a healing process.    My mental health has been interrupted and I had a recurrence.

I'm telling myself that this is ok.  I have dealt with other losses in the past, this is going to be another chapter in my life.  I knew what I had to do, but was very angry that I had to go through it again.  I called my doctor.  I am now attending two bereavement groups, individual counseling every week, and started asking for help from family and friends. My past experiences while some painful have given me inner strength that I didn't know I had.

I hope you follow on to see my new journey as well as working to keep my past recovery stays in check.
